Thank you for your interest in participating in our MLK programming this year! We are excited to host our 16th MLK Day of Service! 

MLK Day of Service is an immersive, community service program that connects GT community members to hands-on service projects in the Atlanta area.  Each year, on the observed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we offer the chance to make it a “day on, not a day off” partnering with Atlanta community organizations to connect, serve, and move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a ‘Beloved Community’.  Participation is open to Georgia Tech faculty, staff, and students! 

Service Sites:

  • Connally Family Cemetery
  • MLK Day trash pick-up event at Shirley Clarke Franklin Park / Proctor Creek
  • MLK DAY at Whittier Mill Park
  • MLK DAY with GA Tech STAR (Students' Temporary Assistance and Resources)
    • On-Campus opportunity 

All service sites will involve similar activities. Service site assignments for individuals and groups will be shared on Friday, January 16.

 

MLK Day of Service Schedule - Monday, January 19, 2026: 

8:00-9:00am - Check-in and Breakfast; Walter G. Ehmer Theater (Atlantic Theater) 
9:00-9:30am - MLK Day of Service Welcome; Walter G. Ehmer Theater (Atlantic Theater) 
9:30-10:00am - Service Project Travel (Provided for Off-Campus Service Sites)
10:00am - 12:00pm - Service Project Block!
12:00-1:30pm - Return to Campus 


Registration: 
Closes Thursday, January 15, 2026 at noon (12pm).  Submissions received after this date may not be accommodated.  


This year we will offer individual and group sign-up processes.  Groups should identify a team lead who will complete this registration process.  Group leads will be responsible for:

  • Receiving communication from the MLK Day of Service planning team
  • Sharing information as necessary to the group members
  • Compiling and submitting the final group roster 
  • Ensuring volunteers are present the day of the event



All MLK Day of Service participants will be provided breakfast, t-shirts, stickers and transportation to project sites.

Requirements

Please remember that closed-toed shoes are required on the day of the event for safety purposes.

Location

To accommodate institute visitors, there are parking zones and meters situated across campus for visitors’ use. Please note that all visitor parking is first come/first served. Please visit the Visitor’s Parking Website to view more information about locations and hourly rates. Many parking meters can be paid for using the Parkmobile app, which allows institute visitors to pay for Georgia Tech parking meters using their cell phone. Visitors may also opt to receive text message alerts and reminders prior to the meter’s expiration. Once you download the app on your phone and register an account, you can use the zone number that corresponds with each lot to pay for parking. Zone numbers for participating visitor areas are indicated below.
